Sustainable Design
Interior Design Solutions (IDS) specializes in creating healthy, comfortable and inviting interiors that stand the test of time. Our interiors are flattering portraits of our clients -- tangible expressions of the personalities and interests of residential clients, the missions and core values of not-for-profit clients, and the brands of commercial clients. A guiding principle for all of our renovation and decoration work is to provide each client with the best quality and the best value possible. Depending upon the scope of the project and the client’s preferences, IDS can provide a complete range of design services, including space planning and sustainable consulting, or collaborate with architects, lighting designers and other professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.
The president of IDS, Susan Aiello, ASID, CID, LEED AP, has a particular facility for seamlessly incorporating modern amenities, creature comforts and sustainable design features into older buildings, while preserving or enhancing their original charm, and a proven track record for completing projects in record time, with minimum disruption and with no budget overruns. Clients can get what they want, avoid costly change orders, and occupy their new homes or offices as quickly as possible by working with someone who thinks things through in advance, plans for contingencies, and follows through on all aspects of design and implementation. And they can help preserve their health and the health of their families by working with a design professional with proven expertise in techniques for optimizing indoor environmental quality.
Ms. Aiello is a nationally recognized spokesperson for interior design. She has collaborated on books, written for national publications, appeared on television and lectured at museums, professional associations and schools. She has been a featured speaker on the Queen Elizabeth 2 lecturing on “The English Style – Architecture, Antiques, and Decoration” and lectured at NeoCon (the leading trade show for commercial interior designers) on a number of topics. Books in which she is featured include Brunschwig & Fils Up Close, Spectacular Small Kitchens (for which she contributed a chapter), Take Charge of Your Home Renovation, The Home Office Bible: Real-Life Design Dilemmas & Solutions, SHOWHOUSES: signature designer styles and Delicious by Design: Architects and Designers in the Kitchen.
Ms. Aiello is certified to practice interior design by both the State of New York and the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). She has demonstrated her expertise in and commitment to sustainable (“green”) design by becoming one of relatively few interior designers to be accredited by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) as well as lecturing and writing a blog on the subject. |
