Adolph Theer (1811-1868) who counted Archduchess Sophie, Emperor Franz Josef, and Empress Elizabeth among his sitters, studied at the Academy of Vienna, where he exhibited from 1832-1847. His portraits, which had the effect of paintings on porcelain, were much admired by the aristocracy of Vienna.
