Style, Comfort, Practicality, Wit and Humor
Harry Heissmann has concluded a nine year association with Albert Hadley, Inc. and is pleased to announce the opening of his eponymous interior design firm Harry Heissmann Incorporated. Mr. Heissmann is best known for designs that combine style, comfort, practicality, wit and humor all developed out of the close relationships he has built with fellow designers, suppliers and clients of multiple generations. House Beautiful decreed in it's April 2009 issue that 'Harry Heissmann carries the torch of design legend Albert Hadley' (http://www.housebeautiful.com/decorating/albert-hadley-new-york-design). In fact Mr. Hadley continues to carry his own torch, but the compliment is a testament to Harry's charm, design clarity and the breadth of knowledge and experience gained mentoring with Mr. Hadley, whom he respects greatly.
Harry Heissmann received his 'Masters of Interior Design' degree in 1995 from the 'Academy of Fine Arts' in Munich, Germany. That same year, he realized his dream of moving to New York, where he had visited many times during his studies. His desire to live in New York was so great that he even sold his prized collection of antique cast iron Christmas tree stands - almost 200 of them - to help finance his move. Before joining the firm of Albert Hadley, Inc. (another dream of his) in 2000, Mr. Heissmann worked with New York interior designers Jeffrey Bilhuber, Juan Pablo Molyneux and Stephanie Stokes, where he gained extensive experience.
His designs combine comfort, practicality, wit and humor, all elegantly organized to satisfy the client's needs and wishes. Harry cherishes the close elationships that have been built over his career - both professionally and personally - and is already working with 'second generation' clients, some of whom say he helped them realize their dreams, too. Mr. Heissmann's projects have included residences in Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Manhattan, Florida and California.
In 2006, he completed a bathroom vignette called 'A Shell Collector's Bath' in the Kohler Design Center in Kohler, WI and participated in the House & Garden Hampton Designer Showhouse. He is also involved in fundraising and charity ventures for several New York institutions, including the Lenox Hill Neighborhood House (where he served as a design co-chair for the annual table setting extravaganza) and the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club. Most recently he participated in the first 'Holiday House' to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. His work has been published in The New York Times, New York Magazine, New York Living Magazine, House Beautiful and Metropolitan Home. Harry Heissmann currently lives in Brooklyn Heights, NY, with numerous personal collections he calls 'friends' and his favorite possession - another realized dream - a painting of his Living Room by Jeremiah Goodman. | Close |
