French Crystal House Lalique Partners With Relativity Media For Its Magical Adventure Comedy Mirror Mirror
May 9, 2012  |

Relativity Media’s highly-anticipated reimagining of the beloved Snow White legend, Mirror Mirror, is being brought to life in this live-action retelling by visionary director Tarsem Singh (Immortals, The Cell), a filmmaker known for featuring visually-stunning production and set design in his films. Relativity has partnered with Lalique French Crystal House, whose brilliant collection of Lalique pieces illuminates the chamber of the Evil Queen, played by Oscar®-winner Julia Roberts. The iconic Lalique Cactus table is placed prominently in the center of the room. Sitting atop is Lalique’s 24-karat gold hand-painted Abundance Bowl, flanked by three crystal Dahlia boxes. In the bedroom, the evil Queen’s bed is framed by two sparkling Lalique Marsan tables adorned with Lalique’s Oak sconces, Dampierre and Beauvais vases and decadent Hirondelles, Cactus, Dahlia and Clairefontaine perfume bottles.

“The tale of Snow White was a perfect fit with the history of the company’s founder, Rene Lalique, whose fascination with living creatures and imaginative subject matter earned him acclaim the world over,” said Maz Zouhairi, President & CEO of Lalique North America. Rene Lalique who started his career as a Master Jeweler was known for his innovative jewelry creations of nature and mythological figures. “We loved the idea of participating in Mirror Mirror to showcase the wide range of crystal categories that Lalique offers from interior design and architectural pieces to vases and limited edition perfume bottles,” said Zouhairi.

Lalique boutiques nationwide unveiled specially-designed Mirror Mirror window displays on March 1st to celebrate the partnership in the weeks leading up to the film’s nationwide release on March 30th. Paul Hotte, Set Decorator on Mirror Mirror said, “Lalique elevated the film to another level. What amazed me most was the unbelievable craftsmanship and exquisite beauty of the crystal. The evil Queen’s chamber would not have been the same without Lalique’s unparalleled designs.”

Mirror Mirror features breakout star Lily Collins (The Blind Side) as Snow White, a princess in exile, and Oscar®-winner Julia Roberts as the evil Queen who ruthlessly rules her captured kingdom. Seven courageous rebel dwarfs join forces with Snow White as she fights to reclaim her birthright and win her Prince (Armie Hammer) in this magical adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance and betrayal that will capture the hearts and imaginations of audiences the world over. The film also stars Nathan Lane (The Birdcage) as the hapless and bungling servant to the Queen. From visionary director Tarsem Singh (Immortals, The Cell) and producers Bernie Goldmann (300), Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter), and Brett Ratner (Rush Hour franchise), Mirror Mirror’s screen story was written by Melisa Wallack and the screenplay was written by Marc Klein and Jason Keller.

This year the House of Lalique is going back to its roots and unveiling its first fine jewelry collection in over one century since the days when Rene Lalique designed pieces for actress Sarah Bernhardt in the late 1800’s. The new collection, called ‘Sacred Fire Odyssey’, builds on Rene Lalique’s passion for Art Nouveau and Art Deco designs.
