In 1957, Nek Chand began creating the largest outsider art environment in the world.  Working illegally on government land, the site was discovered in 1975 and thanks to public outcry was saved from being destroyed. Using industrial waste, home waste and recyled materials, Nek Chand continued his work and today his Rock Garden and Animal Kingdom are one of the most visited sites in India.  An attack on the site in 1996 became the impetus for art lovers and conservationists around the world to create the Nek Chand Foundation to help create further awareness of the Garden and the work of this amazing artist...Meg
